Verdict is a decision-support tool, not a dealer, not an appraiser, and not a licensed investment advisor. Read this before acting on anything the site tells you.
Pricing Data
Prices are derived from a stack of third-party data sources — CardSight (catalog + pricing), eBay sold listings (via eBay’s official Browse API and via Apify when that’s rate-limited or unavailable), TCGplayer (TCG mode raw price), and SerpAPI as a further fallback. Those sources can be missing, mislabeled, stale, or influenced by bidding anomalies. Our filter chain removes the obvious noise but can’t catch everything. Specifically:
- A “Fair Market Value” is the median of recent sales that passed our filters. It is not a guaranteed buy or sell price.
- Cards with low sales volume will bounce around as individual sales come in. Don’t over-index on small-sample comps.
- eBay-sourced data is skewed toward eBay buyers. COMC, PWCC, Goldin, live breaks, card shows, and private sales don’t show up here.
- TCGplayer raw price is Near-Mint condition by default. If your card is below NM, the actual value will be lower.
- Our prices are estimates only. They are not appraisals, not offers to buy or sell, and not investment advice.
Population Data (GemRate)
Pop Reports and the Should I Grade EV math draw on third-party population data from GemRate. That data:
- Has variable coverage. Modern Topps Chrome will return a full per-grader breakdown; obscure vintage sometimes returns only a summary total or no data at all.
- Reflects what has been graded, not what exists. A “1.2% gem rate” is a historical observation, not a forecast of your specific submission.
- Can be temporarily unavailable when our upstream access is rate-limited or blocked. We surface this state with a small inline notice rather than silently hiding it.
- Is supplied by GemRate and not verified independently. Errors in their data flow through to ours.
Grade Predictions
The Grade Tool returns an AI estimate of a card’s likely PSA/BGS/SGC grade based on photos you provide. It is not an official grading service and its output is not a guarantee.
- Defects only visible under specific lighting (surface hazing, light print lines, micro-whitening) will often fool the AI.
- The AI cannot feel the card. Structural issues — warping, creasing through the print layer, thickness anomalies — may not register.
- Graders are subjective and tough days happen. A card predicted at PSA 9 could easily grade 8 or 10.
- Grading fees ($25+) and the risk of a low grade are yours. Don’t send a card in based on the tool alone.
Flip & Arbitrage Math
The flip verdicts (“Strong Flip,” “Worth Flipping,” “Thin Flip,” etc.) and profit projections use the grading-company defaults shown in the Flip page’s settings drawer (PSA Value $25, SGC Standard $18, BGS Base $19, CGC Bulk $15), standard eBay fees (~13%), and payment processing (~3%) — all editable. The Should I Grade EV uses GemRate’s historical grade distribution as the probability input. Your actual costs vary by service tier, turnaround, shipping, and whether you hit the predicted grade. Treat the verdict as a rule of thumb, not a business plan.
Lot Calculator
Lot-level ROI estimates depend on AI card identification accuracy, individual card pricing accuracy, and your own assumptions about condition. Cards marked “estimated” or “not found” add uncertainty. When a lot’s verdict is close to break-even, the margin of error likely exceeds the projected profit.
Not Investment Advice
Nothing on this site is a recommendation to buy, sell, hold, or grade any specific card. Trading card values are volatile, affected by player performance, hobby trends, and speculative behavior. Don’t put money in you can’t afford to lose.
eBay Data, Attribution, and Non-Affiliation
Verdict is an independent tool. Verdict is not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by, or officially connected to eBay Inc. Names, logos, and brand references are used solely for identification and compatibility purposes.
Sold-listing data shown on this site is derived from eBay’s public marketplace via third-party providers. It is cached locally so old sales that eBay removes from its rolling 90-day window remain available. Because of this caching, specific prices you see here may lag or differ from eBay’s current display.
Verdict participates in the eBay Partner Network. Outbound links to eBay listings are affiliate links, and a purchase made through one may earn us a commission at no additional cost to you. That commission does not change how any Fair Market Value, grade prediction, or verdict is calculated, nor which listings we show.
Not a Broker, Dealer, or Investment Advisor
Verdict is not a broker-dealer, not a registered investment advisor, and not a licensed appraiser in any jurisdiction. Collectibles are not securities and trading-card buying decisions are not investment transactions subject to securities laws. Nothing on this site constitutes an offer to buy or sell any card, nor a recommendation specific to any individual’s financial situation.
Third-Party Data and Services
Verdict depends on several third parties: CardSight (catalog + pricing + single-card AI Snap identification), GemRate (population data), eBay (sold-listing data), Apify (eBay listing retrieval fallback), TCGplayer (TCG mode raw price), SerpAPI (further sold-listing fallback), Anthropic (vision + text AI for Grade Tool, Lot Calculator, and cert scanning), Supabase (database + auth), Stripe (billing), Resend (transactional email), Vercel (hosting), and Sentry (error monitoring). Outages or data issues at any of them can produce wrong or missing results. We’ll surface these when we can but can’t guarantee uptime or accuracy. The full sub-processor list with each vendor’s DPA is on the Sub-Processors page.
Forward-Looking Projections
Flip Calc and Grade & Flip projections (“you’d net $X after fees”) are forward-looking estimates based on current market conditions, standard assumed costs, and the AI’s grade prediction. Future market prices, actual grading outcomes, and final eBay/marketplace fees can all diverge from these estimates. Don’t treat any projection as a guaranteed outcome.
